TAV is a train designed for the Italian market with considerations for speed and safety. TAV stands for Treno Alta Velocità in Italian, that translates to high speed train. Considering the requirements of speed and safety the project got its inspiration from Italian design and nature. The Ducati Panigale stands for the speed and dynamism, with aggressive shapes and angular headlights which were adapted onto the train. On the other hand there is safety, inspired by the Cardinal bird, with its red feathers, distinctive markings and puffy appearance when steady. Considering red is one of the most distinctive colors in nature and stands out from the environment, the train would be visible from afar and thus preventing collisions. With a steep angle, at the front of the mono volumetric design, air can be deflected around the body efficiently. The long drawn nose and chin help minder sonic booms while traveling through tunnels, which can disturb the environment at the exits of said structures. The TAV would be able to serve as the next generation train for Italys existing rail network.
